Exit lighting is required in all commercial buildings and emergency lighting is required in any building over 300 square metres.
Once installed exit and emergency lighting should be regularly maintained. The minimum maintenance requirements under South Australian legislation require: Monthly check that the lights operate 6 monthly test to ensure that the lights remain operating for 90 mins on battery power.
